Tree of Hope

February 8 2020 @ 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Button art is not new but it may be “new to you” and if you’ve never tried it before, THIS is the perfect way to check it out.

In this workshop, you will be supplied with everything you need to make the amazing Tree of Hope pictured here. Variations of colours for the background will be your choice but I will demonstrate and show you how to do every single step while creating your tree.

We will be working on a 12″x12″ white gessoed cradle board and first lay down our background of blended acrylic paint. We will then leave that to dry while we choose our buttons, jewlery pieces, beads, etc., from which we will decorate our tree. We will draw our tree trunk over our background and base paint it (for those who are hesitant with their drawing skills, I will provide a template for the tree which you can trace onto your substrate if you prefer). Twine is used for the branches of the tree which will be glued down randomly and in whatever pattern you choose. After this, it’s all about placing/gluing down our embellishments to decorate our tree, including the trunk which is partially filled in with seed beads.

Although this workshop is not difficult, it is time consuming due to the various steps involved in completing a finished piece. Some
may finish before the allotted time and some may not – that will depend on how quickly you work.

Refreshments are always on hand for you to enjoy (water, coffee, tea, pop, cookies and sweets) but if you want to bring a snack or your own special beverage, you can do so.

Dress accordingly as we are working with paint (aprons are provided).

Registration: Preferred by etransfer directly to memoriesaremade@gmail.com or by our ticketing agent, Eventbrite
